IDA Ireland in conjunction with Fingal County Council liaised with WhiteLight Ireland Ltd to install 90 Watt LED lights instead of 250 Watt high pressure sodium lamp fittings at College Business and Technology Park and the results are phenomenal! Incorporating White Light Ireland's experience and expertise with conventional street lighting, Whitelight Ltd was very keen to demonstrate the benefits of LED lighting compared to high pressure sodium fittings. LED LONGER LIFE LED lights maintain over 70% of the original luminous flux at 50,000 hours - long after conventional outdoor light sources have burned out. Conventional street light fixtures waste approximately 20 - 50% of the light generated due to the lack of direction of the light source. LED based fixtures overcome this by making use of a directional point light source. ENVIRONMENTAL SENSE White Light Ireland Ltd LED's use less power, require less maintenance and contain no mercury or heavy metals. During their operational life, the disposal of LED's will not further pollute landfill sites with hazardous waste. SAFER AND BRIGHTER LED light is white compared with conventional street lighting which is yellow/orange. A standard 100 Watt LED light scores over 80 on the CRI (Colour rendering Index) compared a score of less than 20 for the equivalent sodium lighting. Not only is the pure white LED more pleasing to the eye, it also increases the amount of image information captured on security cameras. For example. A red car positioned under an LED street light will appear red, however located under sodium light, the red car appears brown. For areas that require a lot of light such as College campuses and pedestrian areas LED lights will illuminate the area considerably more. At White Light Ireland Limited our LED Street Lights use the latest High Power LED's. In the LED color spectrum there is no ultra-violet light, no infrared light, and little-to-no heat produced. As a result, LED products are "green" lighting sources. They are ideal for public squares, streets and roads. Urban and suburban planners take note: the unavoidable future of street-lighting is here today!
